Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. However, he discovered love for Colorado. The singer-songwriter eventually made his way to Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have inspired many people to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. He is now the symbol of Colorado for all people. When I travel, you are likely to meet people from the other end of the world. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when you say that you are Colorado-based, Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist after working with small folk groups. The song was composed with Bill Danoff. Danoff originally wrote it using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver knew from the first time he heard the early versions that the song was going to be an instant success. The song was first recorded two weeks following the Washington D.C. performance.
